In Celtic symbolism, the Bear and the Wild Boar represent two complementary powers: the Bear corresponds to temporal authority, the warrior, kingship, and material strength, while the Boar represents spiritual authority, wisdom, and the higher principle. When these two animals are shown moving after one another in a circular movement, they express the idea of cyclical time—the eternal rhythm of existence in which different powers rise, decline, and return. The circle represents the continuous succession of forces, symbolizing the recurring alternation between material dominion and spiritual sovereignty, between earthly power and higher meaning. Thus, the Bear and the Boar together represent the dynamic balance between the visible and invisible worlds, showing that throughout the cycles of time, the relationship between matter and spirit is constantly renewed.
